Feminist Media: The Next Forty Years – Monday, March 5th

Feminist Media: The Next Forty Years!

Ariel Dougherty, co-founder of Women Make Movies, will discuss WMM’s aesthetic and educational roots and identify the serious dilemmas confronting gender centered media today. Can we create a just and inclusive media culture?

With forty years of experience working for feminist media under her belt, Dougherty says we can–and we must.

The following WMM films from the early 1970s (some of the first made at WMM) will be screened…

“Fear”
“For Better or Worse”
“Domestic Tranquility”

*This event is free and open to the public; it’s sponsored by Gender Studies and will feature Alex Kelly’s Youth Media Map (http://urt.parsons.edu/urt/research/project/youth-media-map)
