Reading: Gregory Sholette “Dark Matter”

Saturday, April 14th @ 7PM – Free

172 Allen Street @ Stanton (in the Lower East Side)

Join artist, political activist, and local author Gregory Sholette as he discusses the subversive art world in the context of his recently published book, “Dark Matter: Art and Politics in the Age of Enterprise Culture.” Sholette shows that marginalized artists, the “dark matter” of the art world, are essential to the survival of the mainstream and that they frequently organize in opposition to it. Sholette addresses the role of artists in political activism, the influence of interventionist art, and the political economy of the art world.
